James Merle, PhD, is a research assistant professor at the University of Utah in the Population Health Sciences Department. His scope of research is developing and using innovative implementation tools and methods to support researchers and service systems with the goals of increasing the rigor of implementation research, reducing disparities, and improving care quality. James has contributed to implementation research across a range of service sectors, including school mental health, HIV prevention and linkage to care, family-based obesity intervention, cancer patient-reported outcomes, and virtual job interviewing skills. He helped develop the HIV Implementation Science Coordination Initiative’s LISTS tool, and loves to discuss implementation strategies and how to support specifying and tracking. Outside of work, James enjoys fly fishing and playing baseball.
