Ending the HIV Epidemic Projects
About Ending the HIV Epidemic Projects
Since 2019, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has provided awards to institutions participating in the NIH-funded Centers for AIDS Research (CFAR) and the NIMH AIDS Research Centers (ARC) programs. We refer to these as Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) projects. These projects support research in 33 priority counties; Washington, DC; and San Juan Municipio (Puerto Rico). With the coordination and help of the HIV Implementation Science Coordination Initiative (ISCI), the projects strengthen research-community collaborations and enhance the implementation science knowledge base needed for the EHE initiative. The projects involve partnerships between CFAR/ARC investigators, local health officials, and community groups in EHE priority areas.
More About EHE Projects
The NIH has funded over 200 collaborative projects between academic centers for AIDS research and HIV service providers (health departments, health systems, community orgs). ISCI has collected information covering project activities, accomplishments, and more. More information will be published as it is made available.
Learn more about EHE project development, implementation, and findings by reading articles in our EHE Supplement Project Spotlight series below. The series provides valuable insight into how researchers, providers, and community members can scale up HIV prevention and treatment strategies.
