About the speaker:

Thembekile Shato (Thembie)’s research leverages on dissemination and implementation science to improve the delivery of and access to evidence-based prevention health interventions that promote health equity and reduce health disparities, particularly in underserved communities. Using participatory and community-engaged approaches, her work aims to: 1) develop and refine implementation strategies to promote equitable adoption and sustainability of chronic disease prevention interventions in clinical and community settings, 2) promote designing for dissemination and use of research evidence within practice and policy settings, and 3) identify and explore the role of social and structural determinants on accessing health interventions that promote health behavior change.
