ISCI faculty and partners presented at the 2nd National Meeting for Research and Community Collaborations Towards Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. which was hosted in-person and online on September 12 by the University of Alabama at Birmingham Center for AIDS Research (UAB CFAR).
Presenters discussed the multiple effective HIV interventions available to achieve the national Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) and National HIV/AIDS Strategy goals and how ultimate success can only be attained if these are implemented broadly in ways that meet individual, community and health care system needs.
Implementation Science (IS) is an emerging field that studies the methods to effectively integrate research evidence into public health practice and several efforts are underway to engage national, state, and community organizations to collaborate in IS projects. This talk als dives into the need for a common foundational understanding of IS concepts between researchers and implementation practitioners to support efficient translation, adaptation, and evaluation of EBPs to achieve the EHE goals.
Presenters orient attendees to the foundations of Implementation Science with applied examples from HIV prevention and treatment services and research.
